150 Years Celebration

City witnessed the biggest ever polo celebration in the country. Tournament sponsers was BFL Corporation.

The BFL Ezra World Cup 2011 (Dec 18- Dec 25) was conducted at Pat Williamson Ground with three international teams- Italy ( Rome), United States of America ( Carnoustie ) and Indonesia (Nusantara ) and two Indian teams- Calcutta Polo Club and APRC .

The tournament saw the presence of important personalities like Mr Eduardo Huergo, President, Federation of International Polo; Nicholas Colquhuon Denvers- Chairman, Hurlinghum Polo Association; General V. K. Singh, Chief of Army Staff & President- Indian Polo Association; Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, Hon. Railway minister;international players like George Meyrick, Gabriel Nicolas Curto, Carlos Gracida, Goffredo C Rendina; royal dignitaries like HH Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Jodhpur, Maharaj Narendra Singh, Maharaj Jai Singh to name a few.


Match Day 1 - The launch of the awaited Coffee Table Book of the Calcutta Polo Club. The book showcases the unique heritage of the Calcutta Polo Club and its historic journey over 150 years.


Match Day 5 - The BFL Corp Ezra World Cup saw the home team, Calcutta Polo Club, emerge as the champion of the BFL Corp Ezra World Cup 2011, defeating the team Italy by 6 goals to 4.5.


Match day 7 - The final day of the tournament saw an action packed match between Calcutta Polo Club and the rest of the world coveting for the BFL Corp Ezra World Masters Challenge Trophy. 'Sagol Kangje', the traditional form of the sport played in Manipur was performed by players from the northeastern state.

The home team lifted the BFL Corp EZRA World Masters Cup, on the final day.


Mesmerizing dare devil stunts performed by the soldiers of the 61st Cavalry. The army's pipes and drums band played lively tunes before and after the game.

An eventful week packed with thrilling matches in the day and fun filled after parties in the evenings.


The ground saw the largest crowd ever drawn, over 10,000 people were seated during the match and all stands were full.
